Bodywork for Birth Recovery

book birth recovery massage
Packages available to ensure continued support through this time - makes a great gift!

The journey of bringing a baby into this world is so many things, and is as unique to each mother as the children that they bear. The postpartum time can sometimes be the most difficult part of this experience. The pregnancy books have all been read, the birth classes attended, and as the midwives or doctors appointments end, the pediatric ones begin. The road to recovery for mama can be very difficult to find. My own experience through a long birth and recovery has given me the skills and insight to provide the first step in postpartum recovery, and  support women to continue their healing with other local practitioners.

Craniosacral Therapy & Ceremonial "Closing of The Bones"

As soon as 24 hours after birth, with doctors clearance.
This renewing treatment will bring you back; back to earth, back into your body, and back into the present. Enjoy gentle and grounding Craniosacral Therapy work to support lactation, decrease tension, ward off depression, anxiety, insomnia, and allow your body to begin the healing journey. Heat elements will be utilized, along with aromatherapy and techniques to re-align the newly non-pregnant body.

A “Closing of the Bones” from the Mayan tradition will be incorporated into the end of this session. In this Mexican tradition, the postpartum mother is anointed, massaged, and wrapped in clothes. There is a calling of her spirit back to herself as she has been a portal for carrying new life, and has walked the threshold between worlds. A transformation has also begun as the mother embraces new aspects of herself through this rite of passage into new stages of motherhood. To honor this tradition, we will do a “closing” by gently wrapping the head, midsection and pelvis in clothes to facilitate closing the mother’s body and energies, which open in so many ways through pregnancy and birth.

* House-calls available for this session. Contact Bekah for more information.
* Babies are always welcome to come with you to your postpartum sessions.

Birth Recovery Treatment Massage

From 4 weeks after birth with doctors clearance– all ages of mothers
Birth: it’s like running a marathon, climbing a mountain, and then having a surgery, all without sleep or food. Afterwards, there is often little to no support to navigate this healing process for moms. New moms often suffer from pelvic pain, belly pain, breast pain, back pain, epidural pain, lactation difficulties, scar tissue, stretched muscles, sore muscles, tight muscles, hip misalignment, clogged ducts, constipation, headaches, neck aches, hemorrhoids, exhaustion, depression, frustration, and the list goes on. With a long birth recovery story of my own, I am passionate about offering understanding and skills to help mom’s through this time.

This treatment is catered to meet your specific needs, at any time during your journey of motherhood. Deep tissue massage techniques, along with myofascial release, pelvic floor muscle work (externally), and belly massage can be utilized to address any of the above conditions. This process begins with a 90 min session to assess the whole body, and work on problem areas. We will then talk about a treatment plan and include referrals and references to move forward with when our work is done. I want to encourage women to not underestimate what their bodies have gone through in carrying and birthing babies. The healing process requires time, dedication, and patience as your muscles let go of the hard work and trauma that they have been through. The Postpartum Treatment sessions are the best way to begin your journey of healing.

* Babies are always welcome to come with you to your postpartum sessions.
